Explore Woodstock, NY
Woodstock is as historic as it is colorful. Long before the Woodstock Festival put the name on the map Woodstock had an earlier incarnation, in which free-thinking ideas had a strong influence.
From the 1920s on, the town was known as an art and cultural center. Two significant art communities, Byrdcliffe and Maverick worked together to develop a style of life that would integrate arts and crafts with advanced social ideas.
The town is surrounded by the beautiful Catskill Mountains and is a feast for the adventurer. Imagine thousands of acres of state land offering hundreds of miles of hiking trails...
The Esopus Creek runs through it and is a world-class trout stream attracting fly fishermen from all parts. Woodstock is also home to the Ashokan Reservoir which supplies water to New York City.
The town offers a main strip that has wonderful boutiques and excellent restaurant choices. For the past forty years, there has been a drum circle on the village green every Sunday afternoon with musicians, dancers, and crowds enjoying.
Simply put, Woodstock, NY is a mix of old hippies, eccentrics, and millennials; you’ll definitely want to spend an afternoon — or perhaps, even call it home.
A few of my favorite places to eat…
Enjoy an array of globally inspired fresh vibrant dishes that are based on South East Asian cuisine with a modern twist. Comfortable and romantic. Everything about this restaurant is a feast for the senses.
Silvia is the sister restaurant of Good Night. An American restaurant, serving wood-fired cooking with local produce and natural wine. Excellent cocktails and a casual vibe, right in the heart of Woodstock.
Located in a restored farmhouse, Cucina offers a contemporary Italian menu based on seasonal, local ingredients. A warm friendly atmosphere and casual service. Enjoy summer dining on the wrap-around porch or around the fire in the winter months. Great food — try the skizza!
